The MDL ProgramThe MUDI features a special program tailored exclusively for the Milwaukee Debate League including instruction for both students and teachers. The MDL is a partnership of the National Debate Project, metropolitan Milwaukee schools, and Marquette University that seeks to reinvigorate the debate tradition in the Milwaukee area by providing start-up support for up to 30 new programs. The MDL Mission: The Milwaukee Debate League fosters the use of debate and discussion as powerful educational tools to engage students and teachers in critical thinking and learning. Debate experience develops self-confidence, improves attendance, and reduces disciplinary problems. Participation in debate raises grade point averages and rates of graduation, putting students on a path to success in college. The League works to establish and support debate in Milwaukee's urban schools, unlocking its potential to energize education.
The MUDI provides MDL students with a rigorous introduction to debate in a supportive, fun environment. Our faculty members have extensive experience working with urban debate students and teachers. |
