Tim Hogan

Timothy Hogan is a junior at Marquette University pursuing a degree in social philosophy with an emphasis on ethics and a minor in theology. Although he did not join the debate team until his sophomore year, Tim has already earned numerous awards in his limited experience. At his very first debate tournament at Notre Dame, Tim took home an eighth place speaker award. At a recent tournament, Tim and his partner made it to the semifinal round and both earned speaker awards for eighth and sixth place, respectively. Tim has debated at the NPDA national tournament the past two years and is looking forward to debating at next year's nationals.
Tim is currently the Vice President of Marquette University's debate team and is prepared to assume the responsibility and role of President next year. Other than debate, Tim is a member of several other organizations, including: philosophy club, mock trial, and President of Phi Sigma Tau (the philosophy honors club). However, his biggest non-debate accomplishment is his induction into Alpha Sigma Nu, one of the highest honors one can achieve at a Jesuit University.
Tim has also volunteered at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission tutoring high school students, which was an excellent learning experience for both him and the students he helped. His favorite aspect of debate is the quick thinking it requires but also the logical construction of cases and deconstruction of opponent arguments. With his philosophy background and overall debate and public speaking experience, Tim is excited to keep debate fun and interesting for future competitors, but also a learning experience for not only the debaters but everyone involved.
