Melanie Johnson

Melanie Johnson is the policy debate coach at West High School in Iowa City, Iowa. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Secondary Social Studies Education and Political Science. Melanie previously coached at West Des Moines Dowling Catholic High School and Le Mars Community High School, both in Iowa. She is also a former college debater and NDT qualifier.

Melanie has coached students to elimination rounds at a number of regional and national tournaments, including the Mid-American Cup at Valley, the Iowa Caucus at Cedar Rapids Washington, Blake, West Des Moines Dowling, Maine East, Omaha Westside and the Iowa High School Forensic League State Tournament. She qualified teams to the National Forensic League National Tournament, of which several reached elimination rounds.
