Joseph Foy

Joseph Foy received his Ph.D. in the field of political science from the University of Notre Dame. While there, he helped to develop the Irish Parliamentary Debate team, leading them to regional and national prominence as both an assistant and head coach. Prior to graduate school, Foy was a member of the Carroll College (Helena, MT) "Talking Saints" speech and debate program. During his senior year, he and his parliamentary debate partner were the highest scoring team for Carroll as they won the National Year-Long Sweepstakes Title awarded by the National Parliamentary Debate Association. Foy also qualified for nationals in multiple public speaking events in each of his four years at Carroll, advancing to quarterfinals in Communication Analysis, semifinals in Impromptu Speaking, and placed third in the nation in Extemporaneous Speaking at the American Forensics Association National Tournament.
Foy is currently serving as an assistant professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha, where he is actively engaged in instruction and scholarship. Foy has contributed several publications to edited volumes in philosophy and political science, and is active in presenting research at professional conferences around the country. Likewise, he has been invited to assist with a number of high school speech and debate camps and workshops; including a camp hosted by Moorpark College in California.
