Chris Roberds

Chris Roberds is the Debate Coach at Marshfield High School in Marshfield Missouri. This will be Chris' first summer at MUDI.

Although the Marshfield program only began 3 years ago, they have had considerable success in many local and state tournaments. These include outround finishes in CX, Public Forum, and Lincoln-Douglas at districts and major local tournaments. In just three years the program has grown from virtually non-existent to a top-tier Missouri speech and debate team.

As a debater Chris was a successful in policy at both the high school and college level. He qualified to NFL nationals in 1997 and 1998, finishing in the top 30 in 1998. In college he debated for Southwest Missouri State University (now known as Missouri State University) with success at many regional and national tournaments including 3rd place at the JV NDT in 2000. His third and final year of debate for SMSU was in 2000-2001 during the Greater Horn of Africa topic. This gives Chris a unique insight on the types of arguments to be anticipated and that may be run on both the policy and critical level. Chris is currently finishing up his work on his Master's in Science in Education at Southwest Baptist University.
