Ben Hamburger

Benjamin Hamburger is in his second year as the Director of Debate at Iowa City High School in Iowa City, Iowa. This will be Ben's first summer at MUDI.
Previously coaching at Fremont High School in Nebraska, Ben has coached several teams to the University of Kentucky Tournament of Champions, and deep into elimination rounds at the National Catholic Forensics League Grand National Tournament and the National Forensic League National Tournament. His teams have won or advanced deep into elimination rounds at a number of regional and national tournaments including the Mid-America Cup at WDM Valley, Blake, the Iowa Caucus at CR Washington, WDM Dowling, and Omaha Westside. Other tournaments where his teams have cleared include the California Invitational in Berkeley, Greenhill, New Trier, Maine East, and the University of Michigan. His has coached state championship teams in both Nebraska and Iowa.
Ben was a successful policy debater, competing in many styles and circuits for Hastings High School in Nebraska. He was a founding staff member at the Nebraska Debate Institute. He has a B.A. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with emphases in political theory, international relations, history, and women's studies. He will shortly receive a M.A. from the University of Iowa in education.
